HCG levels??

by trina2498, May 07, 2008 04:21PM
My daughter is pregnant and is only 16. When she was at the hospital recently (april 12th) she broke her finger, Her pregnancy test was negative. She took a test on thurs last week and it was possitive. On monday her HCG was at 15,445. I am a bit concerned for her. They did an ultrasound transvaginally and they only found an egg sac not eptopic thankfully. They werent able to see anything within it yet. I am so confused on this right now and concerned for her mental as well as physical wellbeing. Any insite would be great about now. Her doctor isnt able to see her til the 22nd.

I had what they call a blighted ovum in december.  all the signs and symptoms of pregnancy, an egg sac but no fetal tissue.   it may also just be to early to see anything.  I would call the dr's office and request another hcg level to insure that they are going up.  if not they will be able to tell you what to expect. hope this helps.  I will keep her in my prayers, good luck to you.

My first gut instinct reading this was "molar pregnancy". While HCG levels can vary from each woman and each pregnancy, that seems extraordinarily high in the first weeks of pregnancy.

However, anything is possible and this doesn't mean she is going to lose the pregnancy. If she is really early pregnant then it is possible to see a sac but no baby yet. A fetal pole should be visible by 6-7 weeks and a heartbeat by 8 weeks.

Good luck! Please keep us posted on this!!!

At the beginning of 5 weeks my levels were 11000 and towards the end of 5 weeks they were 32000. Its possible to have levels that high and not see anything. It took until 6 weeks for us to see anything other than the sac.

Well we went to her apt yesterday morning. They did see a heart beat but it was so slow only like maybe 60 or so. The said the sac is measuring more like 8 weeks. I am still waiting on a call with the hcg numbers. I think I know what the outcome is going to be. The Dr didnt even give her a due date or prenatals. She is scheduled for a full blown sonogram on Thursday of next week. Please keep her in your prayers.
