OT; chocolate and pregnancy

by casandbaby, May 07, 2008 11:41PM
Not sure if you've heard about this but i thought it was interesting and thought i'd share. it was a news report on our local news and then came across an article on yahoo news. it pretty much stated that Women who ate five or more servings of chocolate each week in their third trimester of pregnancy were 40 percent less likely to develop preeclampsia than those who ate chocolate less than once a week. sounds good to me i love chocolate hehe..
Has anyone heard about this?

i havent heard that but if thats true then i am going to eat up LOL..i love chocolate too :) im addicted to snack pack chocolate pudding..YUM!

i love snack pack pudding to, from what i read chocolate has a chemical called theobromine,  which could improve circulation within the placenta while blocking oxidative stress, or it could also be a stand-in for other beneficial chemicals found in chocolate. i'm def not against eating chocolate especially if for a good cause lol

weird how its good at the end, but the caffeine in it isn't for the beginning. No wonder everyone always ask their doctors a million questions! The rules change all the time!

i heard this and something similar to it a few years ago. They say that the Dark Chocolate is better for you than the lighter varieties. I cant remember exactally what they said but something about dark chocolate and the babies brain. Its better but can not remember all of what they said it was a LONG time ago!

About the caffiene thing.. there's actually VERY LITTLE chocolate in it! My dr. told me that. And basically I can eat as much as I want. (I don't eat much candy. lol)

MMMMMM
I'm thinking about a big chocolate brownie with ice cream and nuts on it! I better get to denny's soon!!

my sis, mom, 2 aunts, and SIL all had pre-eclampsia with a few of their pregnancies, so i thought i was gonna possibly have it as well but maybe thats the reason i didn't .....i craved chocolate donut, oreo's and pizza while i was preggo and i had atleast 3-4 servings of chocolate a day if not more.....yeah i know it was alot but i couldn't help myself when it came to chocolate...lol but he turned out healthy as horse on d-day(delivery day) and im pretty sure all the chocolate eating didnt cause his asthma & seasonal allergies!
