Growth question

by Mark93063, May 08, 2008 12:48AM
My Daughter is 12 yrs. old.  She began her menstrual cycle about a 1 ago.  She is currently 4 feet 11 inches in height.  I'm 5 11", and my Wife is 5 4''.  I'm concerned about her lack of any type of a growth spurt up to this point.  She has never been on any steroids, or any other significant prescription medications (other than antibiotics).  Should I be concerned, and consult her MD about possibly running tests with regards to her thyroid activity, and growth hormone levels?  I've heard different things with respect to girls and growth patterns.  For example, I've heard that she has a small window of time once she begins her menstrual cycle, and experiencing a growth spurt.  Any information would be appreciated.
