My bhcg levels are rising but not doubling - does anyone have experience with this?

by LisaLou1977, May 08, 2008 02:22AM
My Bchg levels have been rising every 48 hours but not doubling.   I have been in and out of hospital the last week and have been  having blood tests every 48 hours for the last three weeks.  I want to keep this pregnancy but who knows.  Has anyone had a healhy baby with their bchg levels not doubling?

They are supposed to raise at least 60% and dont HAVE to double to have a healthy pregnancy. I'm not sure how far along you are but the fact that they are rising is a good sign. An ultrasound at this point would be more informative as to whether or not the pregnancy is progressing as it should. By 6-7 weeks you should see a heartbeat but as long as you see a sac at 5 then things are going as they should.

my levels didn't double with my last pregnancy infact i believe they went from 3600 to 4800 in 3 days and i had an u/s and the sac was empty dr told me i would misscarry i went back a week later and there was the baby nice strong heart beat and now she is 15 months old

Thanks for sharing your stories and advice.

I had a scan on Monday and saw and heard the heartbeat - was very excited and a little relieved.  I've since been bleeding for the last 7 days and had a scan today which showed no heart beat.  Am having a final scan on Monday and if they can't detect the heart beat I guess that's it.
Will post to update you soon.

Hi all
I spent yesterday in hospital having a D&C as the pain was excruciating.  Ah well...there's always next time!
Thanks
Lisa

Personally my levels weren't doubling every 2 days, it was every 3 days approx. and they'd go just over doubling but not 1 1/2 times over the 1st number.... also, at almost 5 weeks my levels were only 50, at 6w5d my levels were 386 or so.

So not high, but not Super low either. my dr. wouldn't even test my progesterone. but I'm gonna be 6 months pregnant on saturday.. so keep faith!
