Allergic to eye drops?

by hypochondriac349, May 08, 2008 02:46AM
Just for the record, my eye sight was FINE. I'm 19 years old and I've never wore glasses.

I had a very bad tonsillitis that was followed by an acute sinus infection. I was fine but decided to go to a medical specialist for a quick recovery. She gave me cromozil sterile eye drops and a nasal spray and told me they were both going to help.

After five days of using the eye drops, my eyes started turning red. I called the doctor immediately and she said I was probably having an allergic reaction and to stop using them right away. I did and within three days the redness went away. Since then I've been experiencing a colorful static all the time, although mostly during darkness, night and when I close my eyes. It just doesn't seem to go away.

I went to an eye specialist about it and He said it was probably a followup to the eye drops reaction. So He prescribed me these steriodal eye drops to use for 15 days. I have been using them three days and already my eyes seem to be turning red again.

I'm going to him within three hours for a checkup and see what's wrong. My vision seems to be fine except now it is kind of unclear due to the colorful static I'm experiencing. It is very annoying and I'm getting scared about what might happen.

Is there anything in certain people with eye allergies should do? Should I just stop using everything and let it take it's course? Or has damage been done at this point? Has anyone else had such an experience?

Hi,

It would be ebst to consult your eye specialist for your symptoms and get a re-evaluation done.

Nothing can be said with surety without having a look at the lesions.

You should wash your eyes with fresh water frequently.

Post us about what the doctor advises.

Let us know if you need any other information and post us on how you are doing.

Regards.
