FINALLY SOME ANSWERS~ : ) My dr's apt...

by Shellshack, May 08, 2008 07:05AM
Okay, first of all, thank you all for you kind support and prayers!  My apt. went great!  NO MS....BUT, he's still not ruling it out, but as of today, no MS, every test is negative.   He said it could still show up months or even years from now, so he wants to follow up in six months.  Okay, having said that, this is what the MRI reports say about my lumbar and thoracic spine....

Thoracic:  On subsequent images there is degnerative disc change at T6-T7, T7-T8, T10-T11,T11-T12.  There are mild bulging  discs in the midline at T6-T7, T7-T8, T10-T11 and T11-T12. There is no canal stenosis or evidence for a thoracic herniated disc.  On the T2 sagittal sequence there is some signal overlying the spinal cord at  C7.  This is felt to be artifact.  Impression:  Several levels of degenerative disc change and bulging discs.

Lumbar: Impression:  Mild degenrative disc changes at L3-L4 and L4-L5 as described.  Mild right -handed nueral forminal narrowing at L4-L5.  Right hydronephrosis, ultrasound correltaion recommended.

The MRI of brain: Impression: Intracranially no acute change identified.  Small areas of low-signal pituatary gland as described.  please coorelate clinically.

My VEP and BAEP and hearing threshold  all normal.  SSEP upper and lower normal.  Only SSEP lower said was Mildly prolonged absolute latency of the cortical responses produced by stimualtion of the left posterioir tibial nerve.  These absolute latency measurements reflect the sum of conduction times in the peripheral and central nervous system.

So, he wants to do an MRI of my cervical spine, because somehow that got missed through all of the other tests.  He referred my to a urologist because of the right hydronephrosis.  I'm not quite sure what that means?  Any ideas?

He wants me to go back to my gyno. about my thyroid TSH level being too high.  He thinks I have something going on there.  And he wants my hormones checked further.

He wants me to go to physical therapy 2-3x's a week for 8-10 months for my back because he said it's only going to get worse with age and I needed to learn how to lift things and just live and protect my back.  He gave me pain med's for my back and Ativan for my anxiety.  Let's see, that was about it.  He just said at this point, he feels like a lot of my problems are from my back, my thyroid but he's still not ruling out MS.  Oh, and I do need to mention he tested me for all kinds of other autoimmune diseases via bloodwork and everything came back negative.

So, that's where I am today.  Still a little confused.  Still shocked about my back.  Concerned about the what is going on with my kidney and thyroid.  And relieved that no lesions showed up on my MRI's and other tests were negative.  Just feel like I'm in a different direction now.

Again, thank you for everyone's support and prayers!!  And advice or ideas any of you may have on any of this, let me know!!

Thank you!  And I hope  each of you are having a blessed day!!

I am new here and trying to learn. I have a Elevated sedrate level or 60-120. I also have bulging disk. Have you had severe leg pain? The Drs. are trying to figure me out. Are your sedrates normal? Just curious.

Good news...my gyno's nurse just called me because my dr. just reviewed my bloodwork that was sent over two weeks ago concerning my thyroid and he wants me to start on thyroid medicine immediately and follow-up with him in 6 wks.  Hopefully, this will help with some of my symptoms!!  Amazing how you pray for answers, and God answers just in time!  Sometimes, we just have to wait and be patient and that is the hardest part. : )

I'm so happy that you are finally getting some answers and treatment that will help with your symptoms!!!  I'm sure it feels so good to be finally getting somewhere!  Good news!

Hope the PT starts helping with your back quickly!!

That's great that your neuro isn't dropping you and will follow you for the possible MS.

I know what you mean about patience!   I'm trying very hard to be patient ~ could you send some of your patience my way?  :-)

Take care!  Pat :)

: )  Just sending you some patience today...lol... wish it were that easy..lol...but I will pray for you and pray for some quick answers and patience while you wait!   You know I think God has been teaching me patience since I was a little girl, and one thing I've learned is this...."The less I try to control the situation and have faith and TRUST God to be GOD and handle the problem.....THE FASTER I get answers....lol..."  So, let GO and let GOD handle things as hard as it is sometimes.  And it's a lot easier said than done, but actually, it's easy to do, you just have to do it...lol.. :)  Wishing you luck on your road to answers : )

Thanks for the patience, prayers and best wishes!!

I've been trying hard to let go and let God give me the answers, but you know it's all in his time and not ours. ;-)

I really think that God has been trying to have me learn patience since my 11 yo DD was born!!  LOL   She really tries everyone's patience!!  :-)

Take care and enjoy the rest of your day!

That is great news!  You know something that's even better?  Thyroid disease, is easily treated and you will start to notice some big improvements within a few months.  I have hypothyroidism, and I'm taking Synthroid.  I couldn't believe that thyroid problems could have caused all those problems, but evidently, it can.

Best wishes for a speedy recovery!

I think Synthroid is what they are starting me on.  What were your thyroid symptoms??  And what did you notice getting better with the med's???

Thanks,
Shelley : )
