I posted a question several days ago - but you did not answer back.  I have some more info.  I am on Cipro for a prostate issue.  My question is - there is a red shiny mark 1/8 " or 1/4" on the ridge of my penis.  My penis seems very dry and I am worried.

It seems as if the ridge of my penis is cracked.  My question is - could lthis be herpes ?  Does herpes aquired during oral sex always make blistered lessions.  I know that i have not had herpes before.  If i do not it will be the first time.  There is skin peeling around this red mark.

As I said before - it might just be an irritation.  But the herpes question is in the back of my mind.   When I went to the doctor about my prostate problem - she looked at my penis.  I  do not think it was this dry at the time.  She did not seem concerned about anything that she saw on my penis.

I have read that Cipro can cause a rash.  Could this be from Cipro ?  I have beeen on it for about 10 days.

Please let me know.

The oral sex encounter was nearly a month ago.  Seems weird that if it was herpes - it would present a month later with the red mark.  There are no blisters on the red mark.

Thanks in advance for your help.

This sounds like irritation.  It does not sound like herpes.  It does not sound as though it comes from Cipro either.  I think you should keep it lubricated and minimize friction and not worry about the redness, which will take care of itself over time.  If you're not sure, please see a doctor in person.

Thanks.
