Its ON starting today!!!!

by RICKS4444, May 08, 2008 08:55AM
Im done with the pills. I've been taking about 6-15 10 mgs a day of hydro's or oxycodone, etc for the past 12 months or so. I've experienced a 3-5 day period here and there without since i started and it sucked. I'm ready for it though and am just going to take the vitamins and stuff (Thomas recipe) and be done with it. Before when i stopped i never took anything (immodium, vitamins, etc) because i just thought i was sick. It never occured to me that i was going through withdrawls. If i did it then i know i can do it now. This site seems to help people and i am going to be posting for the next few weeks or maybe even longer?
The thing that sucks is my wife knows nothing about it at all. I will just have to mask the conditions as having the flue i guess? Wish me luck, and good luck to anyone else in my shoes. Thanks

Good Luck,

I am sure you will be fine, it sounds like you have made that important
decision and that can be the hardest part.  On the thing about hiding it from
your wife, I understand.  The first couple of times I hide it from my husband, but
after a while I came clean with him.  It was great how understanding he was.

Any way, look at the thomas reciepe and amino acids, I found that hard exercise or
work and hot baths helped me a great deal.

Good luck again, and yes please keep posting, it helps me\

Rick - contrats on making your decision to stop the madness.  You and I are in the same boat (dosage/DOC).  The vitamins will help.  Fluids (plenty of water/gatorade) will help.  Keeping warm by laying in the sun/baths will help; taking short walks will help. I too have someone in my life that has no idea what is going on (and it's a reason to quit - she doesn't deserve this) and having the 'flu' works.

Keep posting, daily. when you are feeling terrible, come read and know you are not alone. I'm on Day 3 clean after a short taper - but did get a full nights sleep last night for the first time. It was wondeful to not have to wake up and go straight for pills. The vitamins help with keeping your mood up and your body nourished. I go through w/d's every month and this has been the best experience (with the vitamins).  It also helps to keep in engaged on this forum. You need supportive ppl in your life and you can find them here.

Hi Rick !  I'm glad you're here. I came to this site 5 months ago, very frightened about the withdrawal monster. I had a vicodin habit for 6 yrs and used oxy at the runout time. I can tell you the withdrawals weren't as bad as I thought they would be.
Like you said, like the flu.
My husband didn't know (I thought) but when I told him he said, " I know, I told your mom but she got mad at me for saying it."
It sounds like you have your head in the right place.
Little D and I will be praying for you.

WOW, thanks for all the support.  I can tell i will be posting on here a while. I have one question, When is the best time to start taking the vitamins and supplements etc? Tomorrow night i will be deep in the **** probably. Right now i feel ok (only been obout 12 hrs since i took my last pills). Im wondering if i start taking the multivitamin, B-complex,L-tyrosine, 5-HTP,etc. now, if it will reduce the amount of stuff to look forward to tomorrow and Saturday, Sunday? Sunday is Mothers Day and i would like to be in somewhat decent shape for my wife (and 3 kids). I'll prob be not doing too well but maybe the worst will be over by then? We'll see. Thanks again.

Go ahead and take it now...It can only help.  Vitamins could be eaten as candy (I wouldn't do that though) because they are natural things are body makes not another foreign chemical.  Its great to see you going ct man I know its hard, but you can do it!!!  We are here for ya!!!
