Graves/Hyperthyroid, All results within normal ex TSH

Hi Dr Lupo,
I 'was' hyperthyroid with Graves. (off the top of the chart) 2004-2006. You were my Dr when I was in Sarasota I had the abletion (sp?) procedure in Feb '06, and had some function left. The numbers were normal but slightly high and appeared to be rising when my employer xferred me to Houston in Jun '06. No treatment since, all going well, until last few months.

I requested TSH/T3/T4  last week and these are the results:
TSH = 6.943
T4 = 8.1
T3 = 27%
Free Thyroxine Index = 2.2

My GP wrote a script for Levothyroxine 0.075mg, (75 mcg) once a day. Almost all the side effects listed are what I have now, so I'm not sure I should take this. Especially when it says "use is not recommended with a history of of overactive thyroid condition" But I know the symptoms can overlap a lot between hyper and hypo. Am I hypothyroid now?

Good to hear from you.

You have mild hypothyroidism at this point.  Treatment is reasonable -- if you are concerned about side-effects, you could take 1/2 tablet for the first two weeks then one tablet/day of the 75mcg dose and recheck levels in 2mos.
