when to test?

ok so ive been reading all your posts for a few weeks now and you guys all seem pretty smart about pregnancy and conception so i was wondering if anyone can help me out. Im not very good with the timing and dates and such but if anyone has read any of my previous posts my issue was this..
i started to spot for about two weeks consistently while on my birth control even though i had been on the same one for 6 months.i stopped taking them because i began to get worried and the bleeding stopped immediately.in the mean time we decided not to restart them and to try to concieve.so the date that i stopped the pills was around april 10th im not sure the exact date but right within a few days of that.and i have still yet to get a period since.
i dont know however whether to consider the spottin my period because it was mid cycle and i shouldnt have gotten my actual period had i not stopped my pills until the 24th.either which way i am beginning to experience some symptoms however i know they could also just be pms.my breasts are very tender which doesnt normally happen to me, i am actually gaining weight urinating frequently and having serious hunger issues..but i have tested neg repeatedly.
my question really just is how long should i wait for my period to return and around when would i be able to test and know if it is accurate time wise???considering i dont exactly know when i should expect my period so i wouldnt know when it would be late if it were?i hope someone can help cause i didnt get much feedback on my earlier posts.thank you

The best thing I could say, is wait intill around the 24th and if still no period I would test again. But, your body could still be adjusting......Everyone is different, sorry Im not much help :o)

its a hard thing to answer theres no exact answer i am aware but thank you very much for responding at all and so quickly..as i am sure you r well aware it is just soo hard to wait it out that long!!!
