As far as running around with the kids and all the energy that helped you from the pills. You will have fun, joy laughter, creativity and memorys.
My youngest son who is 11, saw me bitting a vicodin in half and he said, "stop taking poison mom, in Jesus name." Then he started praying every night. The first day I stopped he stopped praying for me to stop. My son has downs. It really was like the Holy Spirit was talking through him. My house is cleaner than it ever was on vics or oxy. I take the kids on more pinics and hikes too. I don't yell nearly as much. You can do it. It is so worth it.
The hard thing to realize is that even 10 years after recovery you won't feel as good or be as effective as when you were high. But the negatives that come along with that aren't worth it.
When you're sober, you're consisgtently running around a 7 or 8 out of 10, and your life is quality, respectable, and intact. There are no major swings, your constantly feeling decent. When your high, youre running around a 10, then a 1. Just take the 7or 8 all the time.
