tapering off clonazepam generic for clonopin

I have been on clonazepam for 6 years, the first 4 was .5 mg 3x daily, then up to 1 mg 3xdaily.  I was on this because of anxiety associated with OCD/mainly obsessive thoughts.  I was on lexapro the first 4 yrs then was switched to generic zoloft which I take along with the clonazepam.  I have switched doctors and he is saying he is only going to call in the prescription for clonazepam this month, and he wants me to come off of it.  I guess I need to know the best way.  I am terrified of coming off of it, probably due to this  being a change in routine and I am OCD after all :o)  I understand it is best if you can do it without medication, but I have come off it before for only a week, slowly tapering off, and I started feeling panicky again.  Any advice on how I should go about this?

You should wean yourself over a three week period.  The first week lower the dose to .5m once a day. The second week, that dose every other day. The third week, every third day...then stop.
