Hello. I was told yesterday that my bloodAmylase - blood Bleeding Blood cells Blood clot formation Blood clots Blood culture Blood differential Blood gases Blood gases test Blood glucose monitoring Blood in semen tests resulted in a positive of 3.78 in HSV1 and 3.05 for HSV 2. I am trying to wrap my arms around this and after my Dr told me that it meant he wouldn't date me I decided to just stop asking questions of him. I am wondering if there is a "grade" or degree of gravity to my positive tests. Does this test indicate any time reference of exposure? What does all this mean? The good Doc also said that there is no need for me to take a daily med as I am not now sexually active. Well I would like to think I could be again. I have researched this now for the past day and think that there might be some preventative things I can do besides feel like Hester Payne from the ScarletScarlet fever Signs of scarlet fever Letter. Please help me. Thank you in advance.

Technically speaking, your ghsv2 result might be a false positive, especially since you have hsv1. Many experts, including our own Drs. Hook and Handsfield, think that the cut offs are too low for hsv2, and recommend that anyone who gets less than a 3.5, especially with no genital symptoms, be retested.
In any case, if you do have hsv2, you certainly can date, and will. You can read more about treatments in the herpes handbook at www.westoverheights.com and also check out the herpes home page at www.racoon.com/herpes. Click on support forums, and you'll find a great support forum.
