After labor and delivery

by precious03, May 08, 2008 05:49PM
How many of you are going to have DH/Partner stay overnight in the hospital with you?  My hubby stayed up there last time, but I don't think I want him to stay overnight this time.  I think I would prefer that after delivery, after awhile, I would like him to go pick up our other kids and just go home for the night, and then come back in the morning.  Last time, all he did was complain about how uncomfortable it was to sleep and how the nurses kept coming in in the middle of the night to check me and bring the baby in to nurse!!  I just want to be able to rest without it turning in to all about his comfort!!  I guess if he wants to stay, I won't force him to leave, but I guess this time I just prefer it!!

That's a good question.  I wouldnt be able to pry mine away if I tried, but unfortunately he's a complainer as well!  I'll have to remind him unless he just did nine months in the body of a elephant, how ever many hours squeezing a watermelon out of a lemon, and now have a human mouth attached to his boob; my best advise to him would be to shut the hell up!  LOL

My DH is not going to be in the delivery room with me, let alone stay at the hospital. He had the same complaints that your DH did last time and we have a 3 year old, so figured it would be best if the baby and I stayed there ourselves. That way we don't have to worry about who is going to have DD when I'm in labor and recovering. Plus him and I do NOT deal well with each other during labor and delivery. I choked him last time and he almost passed out when my water broke.

dh has always been w/ me during my c-sections and my 3 day hospital stay!  i prefer it that way b/c keeps me strong (dd was taken to the nicu last time and i almost had a major breakdown).  its also a short vacation for us and bonding time w/ baby.  he doesn't really complain 'too much' about being unconfortable...  but he does leave a few times to get some "real" food while i'm stuck eating ice chips!!!  :)

My husband stays with me. He doesn't complain......go figure! He is however OVER protective. He watches them nurses like a hawk. He's a good hubby! This time he will be staying as well. I wouldn't have it any other way. I hate hate hate staying in the hospital alone.

I am going to have my DH stay with me overnight, but he has already had to stay up there with mr so he knows what to expect... He did complain about the sleeping conditions. Oh well like prayerfulwife said I couldnt pry him away if I tried.

I don't know how I feel about dh staying over in the hospital.  Although, I don't think he is going to give me a choice, its his first.  when we thought that I was going to have to be induced at 34 wks 1 day (they thought I had low fluid)  he packed our bag with 3 days worth of clothes for him as well.  Part of me is happy he is this excited and wants to stay, the other half is worried that he will just annoy me.  I want him to go to work while I am in the hospital recovering.  Take his time off after I come home.
