Low TSH, Low Metabolism, Normal T4 and hypo symptoms

by roldfiel, May 08, 2008 06:47PM
I have had symptoms of mild hypothyroidism for several years I think.  Recently I have had great difficulty in losing even a pound despite working with a nutritionist and a personal trainer.  When I discussed this with my nutritionist we discovered there were several other problems I was having-fatigue, joint pain, depression, etc.  She suggested I get my thyroid checked.  I did this and my TSH came back at .62 and my T4 at 7.7.  She had tested my BMR and it was below 1200.  She suggested I ask my doctor to prescribe Synthroid.  However, I'm not sure that's right.  There is  a lot of confusing info on the internet, but nothing seems to discuss how I could have low TSH, normal T4, low metabolism and symptoms of hypothyroidism.

Any thoughts?
