ovarian cyst again?

by kmorsch, May 08, 2008 07:21PM
I've had pelvic pain for the past two days on my left side and it's becoming very uncomfortable. It's radiating down my thigh. I had an ovarian cyst in high school (went through all the tests to confirm it, ultrasound, etc..) and was given vicodin and told it would go away which it did. I also think I took birth control for awhile, but not long because of the side effects. The pain feels very much the same as it did then. Should I go to the doctor or wait it out a little bit? I've been to the doctor so much this month for other problems, I hate to go if all they are going to do is make me take a bunch of tests and throw me some pills. I really can't afford it. I'm right in the middle of my menstrual cycle (ovulating)...that is when this typically happens I was told.

To: I feel ya on this one!
I Know EXACTLY what your going through!
I too have it on my left side, and the pain gets so bad it has me laid up for two days straight in pain( puts me in tears), almost feels like labor pains " Its that bad".

I pop perscription ibuprofin like candy because I cant bare it, and yes the pain gets bad durring periods. If it gets to bad get it checked out, They told me they could not remove mine yet because it was yet to small.

What I have started doing was takeing vitamins( and believe it or not it has helped).
You have to becareful that it is not in the process of rupturing...thats why I am telling you if it gets to bad go in, You will know when your ready to.

Until then take a hot bath as hot as you can stand it and then laye in bed with a heating pad( that seems to help me) and take a asprin or something...anything that works best for you.

I hope you feel better.. I TOTALLY sympathize with you as I go through it every month.

I went to the doctor tonight. she really frustrated me and I feel like it was a waste of money. They took a urine test, of course everything was fine and did a pelvic exam. She told me the pain I'm feeling is in my pelvic bone, which is true (its kind of around there, but not it). I told her about my past cysts and she completely threw it away and said no that is not it. It made me really angry. Then after spending $100 to see her she tells me to take ibuprofen (duh) and sent me away with no diagnoses or anything. I'm really angry and I don't feel better.
