Eye problems and eye doctors

by Brian84, May 08, 2008 08:49PM
I've had a problem with going in to see eye doctors about problems with my eyes and not getting anything resolved. For a few years now I have had pressure behind my eyes, really dry eyes, halos, blurry vision and an extreme sensitivity to light. I wen to the eye doctor today, hoping to get some of this resolved and they gave me the usual answer. My prescription was off, which would cause alomst all of that.
I have a pair of trial contacts with the "right" prescription and so far I see no change. The doctor said something about they make a drop that can help with the dry eyes. He ended up leaving so I don't know if this is true and if you need some kind of prescription or anything.
I also talked to him about the light sensitivity. I have crohns disease and he said that a lot of people are more sensitive to light when they have this disease. Tinted windows are illegal in illinois but I did get them for this reason and I will not take them off. I am starting to get tickets for it because I can't get a eye doctor to right a prescription. I really can't see well with all the sunlight when I am in others' cars. Does anyone know what I can do as far as all the eye pain and problems and also how to get a prescription for the windows???

Have the dry eye problems carefully addressed and consider getting out of contacts.  When the dry eye problem improves you may notice less light sensitivity and soreness.  SOmetimes your systemic medications can make things worse.  With your symptoms you should probably be out of contacts or you will continue to suffer.

But I only wear my contacts about a total of 8 hours a week. My eyes hurt even when I just wear my glasses. Talking to other people with crohns disease, they say I may have iritis. I have mentioned it to doctors and they just shrug it off.

Iritis would have visible signs for ophthalmologist to see.  Easy to rule out.
