2 1/2 year old with VERY high liver Enzymes

My 2 1/2 year old grandson has been in the hospital 7 days. His eyes became jaundiced last Friday May 2nd. My daughter took him to the doctor that afternoon. They sent him for a liver panel/blood test. They feared Type A,B or C hepatitas. WE were told his liver enzymes were OFF the chart high. Above 4,200...He has been having daily blood tests to see if the count is going down. The doctors have said he does NOT have Hepatitas A,B,C or E. They have been doing heavy Glucose drip. He also has had 3 vitamin K injections. After them his amonia level was high and they gave whatever type shot to lower this. I am very concerned because as of today; May 8th, his enzyme level is still above 4,000. The doctors are going to do a parvo test Friday. They are also exploring that this problem may have been caused by a parasite. They also believe it may be genetic. My grandson has a fraternal twin sister. She was tested yesterday and is normal. The parents are having there house tested for toxins. We aren't really getting any answers of what damage this high number could cause if it stays high too long. Is there a cure ? Could this be Wilsons disease ? Any thoughts on this would be greatly appreciated. We need possible solutions. They are in Oklahoma City. Please hurry. Worried Grandfather....

I agree that hepatitis has to be ruled out.  Other causes of liver enzymes that high would be a thrombosis of the portal vein, or a cardiac cause leading to congestion of the liver.  

Toxicity with Tylenol should also be considered.

Wilson's disease is possible, and can be excluded with a biopsy and blood tests.

Although I am sure this has been done, a hepatologist should be consulted to further evaluate the findings.

I appreciate your quick response. He was tested for Tylenol. No problem there. The doctors say for sure its not hepatitis A,B,C or E. I just received a reportt that his enzyme level is down to 3,200. SOME PROGRESS..They are holding off doing the liver biopsy for a bit but it has been discussed as a possible need. The thrombosis of the portal vein and cardiac cause was new to me. I sent it to my daughter to see if that has been mentioned to her. I will let you know how it goes. Thanks again
