WHAT IS COMPLEMENTARY & ALTERNATIVE MEDICINE (CAM)?
Complementary medicine is used together with conventional medicine. An example of a complementary therapy is using aromatherapy to help lessen a patient's discomfort following surgery.

Alternative medicine is used in place of conventional medicine. An example of an alternative therapy is using acupuncture instead of surgery for back pain that has been recommended by a conventional doctor.

Alternitives to Meds and Ablation?

After fainting twice in the last 5 months and a trip to the Emergency Room I was very recently diagnosed with paroxysmal supraventricular tachyardia.  The MD said it was not life-threatening but potentially damaging to my heart. She wanted me to start a beta blocker immediately to head off that threat. I hesitated a few days then tried it and the side effects where like those I imagine for severe heart disease.  I stopped taking the meds but had 3 more days of terrible body, mind and spirit depression. Now, just a few days after discontinuing the beta blocker, she wants me to take Digoxin as my King of Hearts event monitor is still showing events of a heart rate of 150 of at least a couple of times a day (that I am aware of and record/report).  By the way, I'm just turning 60 and am in otherwise excellent health.  I have a healthy lifestyle and good eating habits with no high blood pressure etc.  I have a licensed acupuncturist/herbalist that I trust completely.  Should I ignore the recommendations of the MD and just trust that acupuncture and meditation will prevent damage to my heart?
