Please Help my Baby!

by chris44208, May 08, 2008 09:49PM
To: Any doctor
Please help. My daughter is 3 months old. When she was three weeks she was hospitalized because her soft spot was full, and she was lathargic and dehydrated. Since then she has been hospitalized several times for dehydration. The doctors have run blood tests and they did a spinal tap, and found nothing. Her sugar levels were at 107 four hours after eating and the doctor told me to take her for a glucose test, however the endocrnologist said that 107 was normal and wouldn't do the test. I am out of answers and my baby seems to just keep getting worse, and I don't know what to do. Her hands and feet are always cold and often are purple. She wants to eat every 2 hours 8 oz, and yes I know babies cry for other reasons, I have another child, but I know when she is crying because she is hungery. I try to hold off as close to three hours as possible but she goes into hysterics if she does not eat every two hours. Please help me, give me something to look for, any suggestions would be helpful, please. I look at my baby and I know there is something wrong, and I am afraid that by the time they find out what is wrong it will be too late, so please, I don't care how off the wall the suggestion may be just give me anything to work with.

Thank you,
Christine

Take her to a different doctor.  Don't rest until you find a doctor who will share your concerns and be determined to help figure out what is going on.

Have you tried alergy tests?  I know it is a long shot but maybe she is alergic to something she is eating?  Good luck.  I wish I could help you more

if she were a diabetic not only would she be thirsty but she would be going through several diapers a day (urine).  Make sure to count how many diapers a day you change.  Also write down what she is eating and when.  Keep a book and write down anything so if she has an allergy you might be able to figure out what it is.
are you giving her breast milk or formula?  My son became allergic to my breast milk and I had to put him on a hypoallergenic formula called alimentum.  if you are giving her breast milk it could be an allergy she has to something you are eating.  she can also be allergic to regular formula.  the two types of hypoallergenic formulas are nutramegin and allimentum definately try one of those
