Thank you, Linda! You are so very sweet. What an awesome (and Strong) lady. I'd love someday to cross paths with you.....
In the meantime, thanks for letting me know you got my notes. I'll look forward to chatting with you sometimen next week. Good luck with this weekend!
And, thanks for your words of encouragement. I have had the WORST tension headache (not migraine, I know the difference because I get both types) for the past days. I can't seem to find relief. I don't know if it's because of the hormones or not. I can't seem to get answers, and I hate to go to the ER. I'm just too tired to do that. I have a VERY good friend and neighbor who takes Fiornal with codeine for her tension headaches, and she just gave me 2 to take because I was in such pain and I have a busy weekend coming up with kids and inlaws and my mom's 70th birthday party. They worked very well at taking away most of the pain. I don't know if the headache will return (and then I'll be in trouble again), but for now, I feel SO much better and among the land of the living again....at least for a few hours, we'll see how long it lasts! :-)
Hey, has ANYONE out there had experience with Fiornal with codeine for tension headache pain? It's not an opiate, is it? So therefore not really addicting (or as addictive as an opiate)? I'd love to know, because I don't want to trade one bad drug for another. I've been off lortabs for almost 6 days now. Could the headaches be w/d headaches??? Never thought of that. Hmmmmm....
Anyway, Linda, thanks so much for thinking of me. I've been thinking of you and wishing you well and continued success on your journey. Again, hope all goes well this weekend. Touch base sometime after you return, ok? Keep up the strong work. What is it now, something like 64 or 65 days and counting? Yes, I believe you should start counting in weeks now. Way to go!!!!!!!
Love and Blessings to you,
Kim
the "with codeine" part should have tipped you off.. yes codeine is an opiate. a weaker one than hydrocodone or oxycodone but still an opiate. Are you the one coming off of valium??
I just got a call from my doctor. He told me that codeine is not as addictive. You have to take a LOT,and before you can get to that point, most people get sick or itch too badly (yours truly!) or it just plain stops working, doesn't matter what the strength (although I guess there's only one strength of Fiornal). I took Fiornal YEARS ago (15 years ago) on and off and with no problem, strictly when the bad tension headaches hit, which wasn't often, thank God, and I never developed any more than a need for them when I was in dire pain. I didn't "crave" them for a high or anything like that. (I don't even know if there IS a high to be found with fiornal -- at least I never experienced one.) I'm praying my body responds the same way now. I've been off lortabs for almost a week now (it'll be a week tomorrow) (no w/d symptoms.....but maybe because I was only on 20 mg a day????) I actually don't care if I ever take one again. I know (hope?) I can find SOMETHING else to take for the headaches besides hydrocodone, that ugly stuff. Anyway, thanks for your thoughts and insights. I'm hoping this will do the trick when it's needed, but we'll see. I'm currently tapering off lorazepam (1 mg at night) and can't wait to be rid of that, too. Since I was already in the throes of c/t benzo w/d for those four days before DG convinced me it was too risky, this tapering seems like a piece of cake! Live and learn. I guess this forum helps with that, too. What we don't know ourselves, we can certainly find here somewhere, thanks to you and the hundreds of others in the same boat. I hope you have a great night, and thanks for responding! If you hear of other insights about the Fiornal, I'm always open to hearing. Thanks! Kim
