does this sound like herpes?

by m7433, May 09, 2008 02:04AM
One day when I was driving and  I felt my arm burn a littel bit and i thought it was from the sun then I looked down and I saw a little blister and later that day it opened up. The blister never really hurt it would itch out in the sun or if something rubbed over it. It took  about a 1 1/2 to 2 weeks to heal.  Around this time I noticed small bumps like a rash on the top of my hands, feet, knees and elbows. The rash did not hurt. The blister sore did leave a small scar.  th rash went away a few days later with no scar. Now a few days after this sore was gone, my arm was itching and I  was rubbing it when I saw a little bump and with in hours there was a cluster this time in the same spot I had the first little blister. This got bigger about the size of a penny. It stuck up off the skin pretty good too. It did not pop and cause a big sore. It slowly went down. like deflated, then at one end fluid started to come out. At that end a small sore started and the rest is different. So as thats healing about an inch away from it a small red spot started and with in hours 4 small blisters come up in a cluster.  When the blisters show up it burns and if something rubs over it  then it will itch. Once it pops and is a sore it does not hurt.

This doesn't sound like herpes. It would be unusual for herpes to be present on this many different body parts and reoccur this often. You should follow up on it this week with your provider to try to figure out what is going on.

Its only on my upper arm on the inside of my elbow. Within a inch of each other. But as soon as it heals or almost gone another one comes up.  the rash was after the first blister had stated to heal.   I know syphilis causes a rash but mostly one the bottom of the feet and the palms ofthe hand.
wat do you think about syphilis?   thank u

This isn't syphilis either.  That rash wouldn't come and go like this either.

You do need to follow up with your doc.  I know of no std that would cause these symptoms, and am not sure why you are focusing on stds as a cause for this.

The rash only came once and only last for a few days. I was told by The ER doc that he did not know what it is but that it could be herpes or something else that causes blisters and also maybe a rash. the doc took no test.  he just walked in and looked and said that he did not know what it was and i would need to see my doc. when i told him i could not see a doc for 3 weeks he still said he could not do anything. I have had a new sex partener since the last time i went to the doc.  I did some research online and the only things i could find is herpes and syphilis. these do not have to come from having sex just skin to skin contact.   I have been having headaches almost every day once or more. I also have not been able to sleep good when the blisters are there

I don't see why you'd think it was HSV1 or HSV2, but did the doctor who saw mention Shingles?  That can produce herpes like sores, and it would be much more likely to appear on a spot like the inside of your elbow.  It also can be recurrent.

The doc said it could be herpes. Shingles is a form of herpes and most people dont know that. I think it could be herpes cuz herpes does not mean u got it from sex or oral sex.  If any part of your body comes in contact with a open sore of herpes, shingles or even syphilis....then u can get it.  Im try to find out if this sounds like herpes of any kind. Shingles has no cure.  It can come and go.     Can herpes sores come and go back o back or as one heals a new one is coming up next to it?

Shingles is a herpes virus, but its different than herpes simplex that causes oral or genital sores.  Shingles is the varicella virus becoming active again.  In order to get shingles, you have to have had chicken pox.  Varicella is a member of the herpes family, but think of it as a cousin to the herpes 1 and 2 viruses.  Shingles
