Halo Effects after contact lense wear

by Hishamoody, May 09, 2008 02:57AM
One day, I was wearing my contact lenses and everything was fine until my eyes felt really uncomfortable. so i took them out and i noticed my right eye was not right...

whenever i see a bright light i notice a ring or 'halo' surrounding the object with rainbow-like colour.

the next day, my eyes recovered. i dont see the halo anymore.

I have a few questions...

1. Is it possible to lose your eyesight/blindness if it happens?
2.What are the cause of the halo effect?
3. Can I still wear my contact lenses?

You should not wear your contacts as they are far and away the most likely cause of your problmes. The halo effect generally comes from swelling (edema) of the cornea. Worse case scenario you could go blind from a contact lens caused fungus or bacterial infection of the eye.

Leave your contact out and see your contact lens fitter or an Eye MD ophtalmologist. Find one at www.aao.org
