Hi.  Emend (Aprepitant) is an anti-emetic which is frequently used in combination with dexamethasone and 5-HT3 antagonists (e.g. Kytril, Nasea) to control chemotherapy-induced nausea and vomiting.  It's one of the most potent drugs available for controlling nausea and vomiting, and acts by directly suppressing the vomiting centers in the brain. The more common side effects include fatigue, headache, insomnia, constipation or diarrhea, hiccups and decreased appetite.

Emend is awesome.  I never had nausea even once when i was going through treatment.  Use it.  IT's great in my book. Chemo is tough enough with out having to feel pukey.

Hi, I took EMEND too.  It is a very good medicine.  One thing that made me through all this is that  I submitted  myself and I listen to my Oncologist. I followed instructions.  I listen to my body.  When they told me I have Cancer, everything was so foreign to me, the medical aspect of it and my doctor even draw the plan for me.  I didn't know what to expect, what will be the outcome, when I got bald, how can I explain to my kids.  I didn't want to cry because I will just feel the pain and more pain, I don't like pain so I made myself more confident and keep humor in my life and know  this is just temporary phase of my life.  Every body is different, so listen to your body, taking EMEND never made me feel nauseated.

I took amend.  It was great.  I was never nauseated.  I have to warn you it is really expensive.  I think it was $300 for three pills.

I took took Emend as an anti emetic drug.  I never got sick and only felt mildly nauseous, a bit like mild morning sickness for approx 4 days.  I took the first Emend tab 1 hr before my chemo.  In the hospital before they gave me chemo drugs I got an injection of Zofran (another anti nausea drug) and also an injection of dexamethasone.  For the next two days, I took one tablet a day of Emend along with 6 little dexamethasone tablets for 3 more days.  Like one of the ladies said above, I followed my doctors advise and listened to by body.  I had no other side effects from the drug thank God.

Best of luck to you during your treatment.
