Hair Loss and Treated Hypothyroid

by colita, May 09, 2008 01:27PM
I was diagnosed with Hashimoto's Thyroiditis when I was 14 and have been on Synthroid for about six years (I am now almost 20).  Lately I have been experiencing monumental amounts of hair loss, my hair has thinned immensely, and I do not feel any different than I normally do.  I am wondering if I there is anything I should add to my diet that might specifically help those who are being treated for hypothyroid and are still losing hair, or if I should try a different medication other than Synthoid? Pleas help... I feel like I'm going to go bald.

A multivitamin or a hair/nail formula vitamin may help. Sometimes adding some T3 to the T4 may be helpful.  Make sure TSH is in range (0.3-2.0).
