pedioral dermatitis or something else??

by questions_, May 09, 2008 01:43PM
double-barrelled question....
1. been to dematologist for red rash that is basically where my moustache would be, and on my chin...  it burns slightly and also has white-heads?? that i can pop, and occassionally other raised, clear fluid filled bumps that come and go over time....  I can pop them and then they'll go away, then maybe come back.   Dr. says pedioral dermatitis and gave me Protopic that i've been using on and off for a month or so... not much improvement..
Every once in a while i get this intense tingling in my lips, but no problems there as far as sores or anything, just really intese tingling..   My question is I had a couple oral sex encounters dating back over a year and a half ago with girls I didn't know very well, (me going down on them), and never had any of these symptoms until just recently...
Could I have some strange STD around my mouth because of this?? something my dr.'s aren't considering??

2. Dermatologist drew blood word and ran a "auto-immune Panel"??? to see if I had and probs, there... all tests fine..  She also did test for HSV 1 and 2, along with a HEP panel...  and the only thing positive was HSV 1.... (she said all that meant is i've been exposed to it....could've been a long time ago even), and I've never had problems w/ cold sores?? I thought.    Is there any chance this could be herpes of some sort??? tingling in my lips.... had a few sores inside my nostrils, too...  gums hurt real bad for a couple weeks prior to this rash coming on??
If I haven't had any high -risk encounters for over a year and a half, and my blood work is all normal, can I exclude any major immune disease???

I just don't know what to do next.... The rash has gone down a little.... not as noticeable... but i'm worried it's something from the oral sex.... or worse.

THanks!!

ink you have irritation plus anxiety plus a tendency to squeeze the bums ("I can pop them.")  Don't pop them, and they'll go away a lot faster.  Your doctor knows what herpes looks like and would have told you if there was any concern.  The HSV-1 blood test means nothing.

Take care.
