Narcolepsy is usually classed as a sleep disorder ... if you were to ask on that forum you will probably find someone who can talk to you about it.

Hi,

Best place to post this would be in our sleep disorders community at: http://www.medhelp.org/forums/show/108

Hi unclebob, how are you? I hope you are keeping well?
"Narcolepsy is a neurological condition most characterized by Excessive Daytime Sleepiness (EDS). A narcoleptic will most likely experience disturbed nocturnal sleep, which is often confused with insomnia, and disorder of REM or rapid eye movement sleep. It is one of the dyssomnias. A narcoleptic may also fall asleep at any random time". You may get lot more information regarding the cause, symptoms, necessary investigations and treatment of narcolepsy as you go through this link: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Narcolepsy
Are you suffering from narcolepsy? Take care and share your thoughts.

Yes, I have heard of narcolepsy. After 27 years of complaining to doctors of excessive daytime sleepiness and 4 years of scary calaplexy attacks (loss all my muscle tone and can't move), I was diagnosed (finally) with narcolepsy.
So, I'd love to share with others who have had to cope with this!
I am just so relieved that this is not life threatening and that i can still live a long, productive life

Hi unclebob, how are you doing? It's sometime now heard of you? Hope you are keeping well and able to have normal sleep. Have you consulted the sleep specialist to get the sleep study? Hope you have got lot of information on the narcolepsy. Thanks to mastkids for having shared his experience and valuable thoughts. Hope you too are able to get adequate sleep and following up with your doctor. Here are few aspects of the treatment and hope you follow few tips.
