Leslee update

by SimplyStar, May 09, 2008 07:18PM
Happy news today, Les had the first drop in the CA125  since after surgery and the recur  3 months later. Dropped 80 points.  She has had the first complete cycle  of Gemzar, 4 infusions, that cover 2 weeks on then  1 week off and then 2 more weeks. Onocologist confirmed  that the loss of estrogen does cause prolapse of the bladder, wants to wait  on any replacement untill she has another complete cycle. Scan came back unchanged , unable to tell if the 3 lesions have  grown any at all. No other evidence seen. It will be 2 years next month since her dx. Mayo has asked her to increase her exercize, they say that walking increases the white counts. They also said the Doxil will probably remain in her system for up to 2 years. She is to increase her intake of lean red meat to 3 times per week, 2 cups of green tea daily, continue with  her suppliments of Vit C 2500mg, COQ10, cranberry capsules, multi vitamine,  4oz glass of red wine ,  soy and cashew nuts,  we made up a great trail mix for her to take to work.  Over all her health is good, very little need for pain pills, sleeps good, and her attitude is fantastic. Instead of talking about the "next" chemo she is talking remission.  This Mother feels encouraged tonight.  Marty

That's very encouraging news. I like all the goodies she's supposed to be eating. What? no dark chocolate? I think it's very therapeutic. :-)  Have a very happy Mother's Day.

THis is such great news, all your hard research paid off.  You have been by her side (in mind and body) through these last 2 years looking for a diet with supplements as well as remedies for some the side effects  to what would work chemo-med wise and what to expect.  I have been tensely (is there such a word??)following Leslee's ordeal and I am overjoyed to finally be able to exhale for you both.  Happy Mother's Day gift. You are truly a great Mother
