No one has really studied the effects of the G-forces associated with these rides in relation to a person with VP shunts. Theoretically, if the shunt is patent and working, it may not be much of a problem but I still have my reservations. Riding roller coasters may not affect the shunt, but may affect the primary condition for which the shunt was placed in the first place (like the effects of G forces on hydrocephalic brain, or to post-brain surgery patients). I suggest you discuss this at depth with a neurologist so that you can be properly advised. Until then, it may be prudent to avoid the coaster. Regards and God bless.
