Will I deliver soon??

by NeeNaz, May 09, 2008 11:49PM
Hello Ladies,

I'm 39 weeks and 5 days pregnant with my first child. I went to the dr. today and he said I was probably at a -2 station and that there wasn't much of a change since last week, hardly any dilation if any. Well... I went walking on a treadmil for about 25 minutes and since then I can feel some "stuff" coming out. I don't know if it's the same white stuff that's been coming out for the past few weeks, or if it's something else. Earlier this morning my back started to hurt, like the discomfort I get BEFORE I start my period, and I felt it a few times throughout the day. I've been getting some BH contrations, but since they're in the abdominal area, I haven't really paid attention to them since I keep hearing that contractions start in your back region. Any thoughts as to if I may be going into labor soon?

Honestly it sounds like things are progressing and that this stage you could go into labor at anytime it just depends. It sounds like your mucus plug is coming out (which is the discharge coming out) however that can mean that your going to deliver soon or in the next couple of weeks. They say that with your first you usually go past your due date however I'm not sure how accurate that is. Walking is a fantastic idea on how to get things moving but its really up to your body now. Pay attention to your contractions even if you don't think they are that bad you could be in labor. If they are 5 minutes apart last for about a minute and have been happening for an hour go to the hospital. Real contractions are VERY consistent so watch for that as well. Other than that I think it is just a waiting game now.

there's no blood and I believe it's just like the stuff that has been coming out previously (the white gunk) could it be my MP and have no blood?

Sounds about normal like alaysha said.  I too lost my mucus plug around that time BUT continued till 1 wk past due date.  I have read that only 25% of babies are born on there due date.  I was worried since the dr told me he was gaining so much only to have a perfect 7lb baby 1 wk late.  Don't worry, you WILL know when it's the real thing.  Best thing I wish I had done was not to read into all the signs that lead up to labor.  I wish I had of just taken it easy, relaxed and like what happened happens (being woke up at 4am w/my first REAL contraction).

Yeah just taking it easy until the end is the best. I wasn't having any contractions I took a 3 hour bath and then went to take a nap and about 10 minutes after I fell asleep *pop* my water broke.

your mucus plug is almost always going to be atleast tinged with pink.  But the mucus plug isnot always a good indicator of when...some women don't lose theirs until they are in active labor, some lose it weeks before.  Are you have any contractions? Keep track of those...how often, how intense, how long they last, your activity at the time, dothey go away when you change activity?.  Of course keep an eye out for your water to break or leak.  Walking on the treadmill is a good idea if you do it in moderation.  LAbor isn't always predictable.  It can come gradually or all of the sudden.  Good luck!

Update:  I've been getting these really sharp pains "down there", but still no sight of blood or anything like that.
