I feel dizzy and my hair is falling out is this normal? I had 90% of my thyroid out on May 5th. Still recooping. Also how about menstral periods will this make my periods all funky now? I have 2 nodules one 2.5cm and onther 1cm. He took them out and most of the thyroid. He said it was all within the margins, Waht are my chances of cancer? I have had one FNA it came back as negative for cancer had colloid cells as well as follicular. Any thing you can tell me I woul much appreciate!!!

Not likely cancer but ask your doctor what the final pathology showed.  Also ask if you need to take thyroid hormone -- likely you do.  The first few weeks after surgery are up&down -- hang in there, it will improve.  But tell your doctor what your are experiencing.

I was dizzy for 10 days after the surgery ... actually, I had an extra night stay bcz of severe vertigo .. it was awful .. then it eased up and finally went away .. they told me it was from the anastesthia in my case and being a bit older (48) vs. other times being younger for other surgeries, etc.

See if you can get back into the forum with your pathology results for Dr. Lupo to review .... I think he can lend a hand as you make some very important decisions regarding your condition.

I have Graves' disease and I'm on medication, as I do not want RAI (radioactive iodine or surgery) to correct the problem, although my doctor is pushing for it.

In answer to your first question, feeling dizzy and losing hair is a normal after-effect after having thyroid surgery, and most likely you might need to take thyroid replacement hormone, such as Synthroid or Armour, sometime down the road.

As far as cancer goes, I believe that it depends on whether or not your nodules are hot or cold in terms of whether or not they could be cancerous. I forgot which was which, but I would definitely ask my doctor about that one.
