Massive Relief

by Phew36, May 10, 2008 01:55PM
Dear Doctors,  I wanted to post a thankyou to yourselves and myabe give some encouragement to others to get tested.  I am an immigrant to the united states from the UK, after being here on a visa my company decided to sponsor me for a green card which has a requirement to get tested for just about everything.  I have bee worried about HIV for at least 2 years, and longer it has been there in the back of my mind.   I convinced myself I had it, I had not been a particularly good boy in prior years but have found the most beautiful wonderful woman.  I kept looking up symptoms (upset stomach, night sweats etc) which I have now and then.  I procastinated for a month about getting tested (TB, HIV Syphillis etc) and delayed the test.  Finally on Thursday I knew I just had to do it,  I went and was petrified and remained so until 1pm Today when I returned to the clinic to get the results and for them to check my TB reaction.  I was then told that I am all clear and negative on all counts and I (36 year old man) burst into tears.   I took enourmous comfort from your site reading posts all night last night and I want to tell your readers that the relief is immense and I learn to make much much better choices in my lif in the future.  I am sure if I had never got tested the stress and worry would have killed me anyway.    Thankyou so much for the comfort and assurance your site gave me whilst I was waiting.
