D&C and fertility

I am 36 years old and have had one normal healthy pregnancy - have a daughter 2/1/2 years old.  We'd like another In November, I tested and found our we were pregnant then at 13 weeks our ultrasound revealed we had blighted ovum, no fetus, but all the pregnancy signs were showing.  I had already started spotting at this time.  Dr. gave me pills to start miscarriage and I thought we had miscarried ok, then went for ultrasound to make sure everything was gone, apparently the tissue was still inside uterus, so a D&C was performed in March.  The gynecologist mentioned to me I had a very small fibroid in my uterus which would not affect me getting pregnant, but did say I would have heavier periods.  I then had a regular period 1 month later after D&C - 28 days, and have since had two abnormal cycles 21 day cycle with heavy heavy bleeding and lasting 1 and 1/2 weeks.  We never did go back on the pill and I would like to have another baby and so we are trying.  Is this normal, should I see Dr or gynecologist?
