i was reading through the expert forum and the doc said that igM test are worthless for hsv. y would that be, and what blood test is more accurate concerning hsv 1 and 2?

The IgM isn't reliable because it can have a cross reaction with other antibodies.  

The best test to ask for is an IgG test.

thanks you once again auntiejessi, im not sure thats the test i did, im gonna check tomorrow with my doctor. just to make sure.

hi auntiejessi i got the printouts of my herpes test and the hsv 2 is igg herpeselect type specific ab. it was 0.12,  the hsv 1 was igm and it was 1.160 is their any problem with herpes 1 test being igm

Not if you aren't concerned with knowing if you have hsv1 or not.  If it doesn't matter, then no worries.

If you are concerned, then test with an IgG.
