If the cyst was located near the voice nerve, the nerve could be damaged; it sometimes thales up to 6 months for the voice to be restored. I t is also possible that the connective, scar like tissue had formed between the voice box and the external scar causing "reverberation" of the voice [but this condition is lasting only few weeks after surgery].

When I had surgery for TT I lost my voice for 6 weeks due to a paralyzed vocal cord. When my voice returned I sounded like a teenage boy for a few days then it was back to normal. If mine had not returned, my ENT was going to inject my vocal cord with botox to push it over so it could touch the working one, which is necessary, for the voice to come out.Hopefully your voice will return soon. Good luck.

I had TT dec 6 2007, my voice has not improved at all, but the surgen did clip my vocal cord. He told it would heal its self which wasnt true, i am now going to a different doc. I sugest finding some one that will help you, I lost my job, becuase my doc kep saying give it time which never happend. Also they can do things to help as it heals, Hope it helps.

Just something to throw out there....are you a smoker?  Smoking can slow down the healing process and can also contribute to hoarseness.

My Mom had whole thyroid removed in Jan. She was diagnosed with papillary thyroid cancer. She still doesn't have her voice back; she only speaks in a very low tone. Getting really worried...I just hope it comes back but it's already been more than 6 months after the surgery. Some say it might come back after her second radiation. Has anyone done the Botox injection and know if it actually works?
