I know there is a name for my sister's dropping things when she laughs really hard

by BarbInTahoe, May 11, 2008 02:03PM
I can make my sister laugh really easily- sometimes by just not saying anything and just giving her a look. The same thing with my youngest daughter.
They both have this syndrome where laughing hysterically causes them to drop things and appear to be paralyzed. I saw a reference to this somewhere and should have written it down. I remember that it is pretty common.

thanks,

Does she pass out?  If so, that would be cataplexy, which is related to narcolepsy.  I don't know how common it is but I have a friend with it.  There is some sort of treatment but not sure what.  Sorry!  Google it and you will find some more info.
