Endometriosis with clear pelvic fluid

by Kim1031, May 11, 2008 03:14PM
I went to a GI specialist for a follow up on stomach pains I was having. First CT showed thickening of small intestine and some lymph node involvement. He did a follow up CT 8 months later and an endoscopy. Small intestine normal. I have Barrett's esophagus and fluid in my pelvic area. I was sent to the hospital for a internal ultrasound. The to a Gynocologist who did his own internal ultra sound. All showed fluid and some increase of it. CA-125 was 29. He decided to do a laparoscopy. Found several small red dots which he said was endometriosis. Cytology of fluid was normal. This was done February 1, and I go back May 12 for anothre follow up. Because of my age he is against hysterectomy but knows I already did the depo shots and other things to help with pain and bleeding. The pain I get is so bad at times and the pressure it puts on my back and hips is like being nine months pegnant. I am worried about this turning into cancer. My grandmother had a hysterectomy due to cancer. Should I get a second opinion? Thanks.

Hi There
it sounds like you have had a wonderful evaluation. Second opinions can help clarify questions you may have. I am not sure you will get too different a recommendation
best wishes
