CSCR

I am a 36 year old female with worsening symptoms of CSCR for 2 years (started while pregnant and received steroids for one week). My doctor indicated I have a severe case and stated if he lasered all the sites to stop the leakage I would have no vision left. I do not have any other medical problems. I have ruled out any brain or pituitary tumors or cancer. My cortisol level is 21. My doctor stated to grieve and deal with the disease. I am only 36 and have 3 kids. I would like to try something....
Do you think a cortisol reducing drug could help and if so, which drug would you recommend trialing.
Do you know of any clinical trials (anywhere) that are seeing success in chronic cases?
help of any kind needed.

I am sorry but your case is extremely unusual in many aspects. You should be seeing an ophthalmology retinal specialist professor at a University based teaching hospital. I'm sorry but your case is beyond my help.

I strongly recommend using the Castle-Connolly directories at www.****.com. Their data base contains board-certified ophthalmologists who have been nominated by other doctors for their excellence. (There is only a nominal fee involved.) I tried searching for retinal specialists in Manhattan and pulled up 35 referrals--several of whom are connected with prestigious medical schools and have been designated as being "top doctors in America." The directory provides the doctor's special interests, information about his/her education and training, and contact information. (You can get the same information for free if you use the Castle-Connolly directories available at most public libraries.) Best wishes.
