Blood in Urine

I have gone for 15 and 23 mile bicycle rides over the past two days. After both rides I have had considerable amounts of blood in my urine. I have had no UTI symptoms leading up to this and there is no chance of STD. Admittedly, my testes are little sore after the ride. I have no back pain and other than blood in my urine, I am of fairly good health. Is it common to have blood in urine after bike rides? I have been riding for 4+ years and have never experienced this in the past. Your help is appreciated.

Hi,

When you say blood in you urine is this blood that is grossly visible? Or is this a case of microscopic hematuria?

Asymptomatic  hematuria may be due to prior strenuous activities and stress. Medications may also be a factor. This seems to be significant in your case. You have had a history of cycling and this seems like a strenuous form of exercise.

I still suggest consult with a physician for further evaluation. However,I do agree that there seems to be no underlying urinary tract condition here. So there seems to be cause of worries here.

You may want submit another urine sample a few days after when you are more relaxed. Also note that there are no superficial skin injuries to the skin that could have caused the bleeding.

It was grossly vissible during the first urination, after both rides, but less noticeable thereafter. Also, no skin injuries are present. the roads were are little bumpy (moderate road construction), so it could have been from sitting on the seat. Although, like I said, this has never happened before. I am on no medications.

thanks and I will consult with an MD in a few days.
