hypoattenuation withon the left centrum

by saltsahker, May 11, 2008 07:22PM
Three days ago I had a headache the hurt to the point I was throwing up. Noise, movement and any smell would send me into a violent heaving. My husband took me to the hospital where they gave me a shot for pain and a MRI to see what was going on in my head. The results came back with no indication of cause for the headache. However the findings report said, :"a small 6 0 mm focus of hypoattenuation within the lest centrun, semi_ovale. This could represent a focus of old lacunar isechemia or possibly demyelination but is nonspecificate especially given patients age". I am 47 years old. The only thing I understood at that point in time was that maybe there was maybe a shortage of blood to that area, and contact my family doctor ASAP. I do not fully understand this diagnosis and need some more understanding before I waste time with a family doctor and should have seen a specialist.

Hello Dear,
Hypoattenuation is hypoperfusion or less supply to the brain which may cause headache. You should consult a specialist and undergo all neurological tests and follow him up for proper treatment.
All the best

Thank-you very much for your reply. I did not want to consult a family doctor and waste time and money. I am still very much in the dark or just plain scared to death what all this means. My father had an aneurysm   (is OK now)  and my mother had a stroke which almost killed her, but with all the proper therapy, she is left only with some speech problems.
