There can be several causes to this. One is that you can have a blood pressure problem. High blood pressure can usually manifest with this type of dull pain at the back of the head, nape, and back of the neck area. A more common cause is muscle stress which can be addressed by avoiding stress or having to do muscle stretching exercises. Migraines can also initially present with this type of pain.
