BULIMIA IN OLDER WOMEN

by Warbunny, May 11, 2008 10:02PM
I've been bulimic for close to 55 years.  I'm so scared I'll die like this and I don't want to.  My husband, as far as I know, doesn't know.  We've been together for 8 years.  I had talked to my children about this over 25 years ago, but haven't discussed it since then.  I don't know what to do.  I told my mother about this many years ago and her response was, "how disgusting."  I haven't sought help since then and don't know what to do.  The shame is my biggest enemy.  Any suggestions?

I don't know if you have to tell anybody about this except a doctor who specializes in eating disorders.   You need help, and there is nothing to be ashamed of, so find a specialist and see him or her.  You can also get some useful information, and start a program if you like, about the causes of bulimia, at www. shrinkyourself.com
