Is it throat cancer?

by caljane, May 11, 2008 10:45PM
For the past 2 weeks, i have had this terrible feeling like there is something stuck in my throat, and am constantly clearing my throat, but that doesn't help.  About a month ago, I had a bad cold/cough and noticed tiny white bubbles on my adenoids.  i went to the dentist but he said it was nothing to worry about, and especiaally since I was sick.
The throat problem started shortly thereafter.  The white bubbles went away, but are now back.  it is worse at night, and I wake up with a sore throat.
Is it serious, like throat cancer????  I am very concerned!
Or, is it related to medications i am on- phentermine, potassium pills, & vitamins given to me by a weight management doctor.
thank you,
Caljane

It is very, very unlikely for throat cancer to present in this fashion.  It is possible that you actually could have something stuck in your throat, for example a small chicken bone.  Phentermine can cause a variety of allergic reactions, including hives.

Your best bet is to request a careful examination by an ENT specialist who can diagnose whatever is going on and re-assure you that it is not cancer.
