I went off of Lexapro once.  The doctor had me go a couple of weeks on a 1/2 dose before stopping.  It went fine, but everyone is different.  The most important thing is to not quit suddenly.  You have to be weaned off of it or you could experience some weird stuff.

I'm going off Lexapro right now.
I had been on 20/mg day for a significant amount of time.   I started about 3 wks ago by taking 10/mg day.  After 6-7 days of that I then switched to 5/mg day for 6-7 days.  I had not taken any at all for the past 3 days and about the only thing I have experienced is some of the 'brain zaps' that have been mentioned on here, but nothing too severe.   I took another 5/mg this morning to help alleviate that, so, I'm not TOTALLY off of it yet.  My plan is to take 5/mg every few days until I feel that all withdrawal is gone.

One more thing that I should mention - I have created this 'withdrawal schedule' on my own...without any kind of physician intervention.  So, do what you feel is best for you.

Hi! I was on Lexapro...10 mg for a year or so. I ran out of my last prescription..and it wasnt really doing me much good anyways, so I just didnt get it refilled. So...basically I quit cold turkey as they say. That was about 3 weeks ago. I have the "brain zaps" as I call them, and as Ive read SOO many people have...its the weirdest thing Ive ever experienced. It lasts a split second-but if Im walking its that split second of...Bzzzzzt in my brain..and I feel dizzy for just that brief time. I too wonder, will this ever go away...I hate it. I tried to go back ON about a week ago, and I got very very nauseated with taking just 1 pill...so I was in a "darned if you do, darned if you dont" situation. I just shouldnt have quit abruptly. So...I am still suffering the withdrawl. I keep hoping I will wake up one morning and wont have the brain zaps anymore
