endometrial mass

by doxiemom, May 12, 2008 02:30PM
Hello I am trying to sort somethings out in my mind right now it seems to racing with thoughts and questions. I am 31 yrs old and have two young boys. I have for the last year had very heavy and prolonged periods and never at the same time each month. I used to be like clock work. I finally went a month ago and the doctor didn't do a pap or anything like that she just looked and felt inside. She gave me some progesterone which i still have not taken because she wanted me to have blood work and an ultrasound done. I had the tests done 3 1/2 weeks ago and finally called the office today to get the results because I had not heard. The nurse said all blood work came back in normal range but they did find a 3 cm mass. She just called back after talking to the doctor because she could not read some hand writing and said it is not a cyst it is a mass and she wants to schedule a hysteroscopy and a d/c at the same time to remove it and test it. Okay so how do they know it is a mass not a cyst and is there really a difference. I am just really scared because this has gone on for over a year and I am worried that it is something worse because I kept putting it off. Please tell me if any of you have the samething and what to expect or what it could be.
