period, boob size, HELP ME

by phebes, May 12, 2008 02:48PM
im about to be 13. so maybe it is nothing, but i haven't started my period, gotten pubic hair, or boobs yet. and according to my family history all this tended to happen at age 11 and younger. I am very athletic and i know that could possibly be part of it, but it worries me. i've considered getting my mother to take me to the doctor and see if i can get estrogen pills. but i don't think it is that drastic yet.

could it possibly be something serious, or am i just overreacting?

p.s.
i do gymnastics and tennis. but not on an everyday basis, just about once a week.

its nothing at all. your not even a teenager yet. not all people develop at the same time. dont try and get pills just so you can grow up! be happy you dont have a period yet. once it comes ur stuck and it hurts really bad sometimes, cramps are horrible. and as for the boobs.....when mine first really grew EVERYTHING seemed to be hitting them. balls, fists ugh and that hurt so bad. they also hurt because they were growing, and the hair. most teenagers dont even want hair down there! I shave (not all). and a lot of girls just shave it right off.

dont worry about it. give it time.

My niece is about to be 13 as well, and she hasn't started either.  She has symptoms, but that could also just be being a teenager!  However, her mother thinks it could be because of the anti seisure medication she has to take.  Do you take any medications?  If not, then I'm sure you are fine, just hang in there, it will hit you before you know it!  (Then you'll wish it never came!)

Since you're not quite 13 yet, you're probably overreacting to your situation which, believe it or not, is a sign that your body is starting to change (you didn't worry about this stuff when you were 10, right?).  As you enter puberty, female hormones make your thoughts and emotions change, which is a sign that your body is preparing for physical changes. So it sounds like you're right on schedule.  Many girls don't get their periods until they're 14 or 15 and breast development takes place between the ages (on average) of 12 - 19.  So sit back and relax, you are completely normal, your body is starting to produce its own estrogen so you don't need any pills for that.  Good luck!
