differing with erythocyclen and benzoyl perixide

by theuglyacneface, May 12, 2008 03:05PM
Please someone help! I've been suffering from moderate-severe acne even since I was 14.  I am 25 now and still have an ugly face, full or small pimples, white head and some under the skin pimples that leave nothing but ugly scars.  My face every time is worst.  I have lost self confidence and I hate to date because of my ugly face.  I have used all kids of acne medications with little or no success.  I am now taking erythocyclen with benzoyl peroxide  one week and I am noticing a little effect.  I have an old cream (differin) and I would like to use it in conjuction with erythocyclen to see if I get better results.  I was just wondering if I could use differin with erythrociclen with benzoyl peroxide.  Please help!

Hi. Don't mix Differin with BP as this will increase sensitivity and irritation of the skin. Don't use old medication. Differin is probably the more effective of the topical medications you mention. If BP is not helping, get a new prescription for Differin. Also ask your doctor for a course of oral antibiotics such as Oxytetracyline. Have you tried this before and if so what were the results like?
If you are female (sorry can't tell from your profile) taking an anti-androgen contraceptive pill like Dianette will help too.
Acne often causes low self-esteem and psychological problems. I have been prescribed an anti-depressant to help with his. Despite having had acne for over 20 years I have done modelling and acting. If you are female let me know and I'll tell you what make-up I use to cover my acne.
I would not be put off dating someone because they had acne. One of my boyfriends had severe acne on his face and back but he was still very popular. Loiloi xx
