minocycline

Hi!I've been taking Minocycline for about 3 weeks now with topical aplication of Tazorac. Is that a good combination?I haven't noticed any improvement yet. I read that some people have taken this medication for years and after they stop it the acne comes back.Is it worthed to keep using it and wait for the acne to go away and come back or I should concider Accutane? How much safer is Minocycline than Accutane exactly?

It is still early days, stick with your regime and you should see an improvement after about 8 weeks. You may need repeat prescriptions of topical or oral mediation for as long as you are prone to acne.
If you still have acne after long term use of oral antibiotics (after 2 years) you may be a candidate for Accutane. Accutane works by shrinking the oil glands which return to their normal size very gradually, thus resulting in a longer remission time than with other treatments. It is sucsessful in about 80% of patients but doesn't work for everyone, I've taken it twice and relapsed both times. Loiloi xx
