how is not having sex defined in case of epididymitis?

by clearskies545, May 12, 2008 05:43PM
Not having sex can mean a lot of things: what is the biological definition in the case "do not have sex for one month after all symptoms have disappeared" in epididymitis?" Don't ejaculate or don't have an erection or don't what, for example?

And could you tell me what could, would happen if sex, as defined above, is had earlier?

Thanks.

Hi,

This means sexual abstinence. This includes sexual intercourse and other forms of sexual contact. This has to be avoided as engaging in any form of sexual contact with another person may only delay healing or initiate another infection. The epididymis releases fluid which is associated with ejaculation. Sexual abstinence is like giving these structures a rest. Sexual contact may introduce organisms which may initiate infection and thus prolong resolution.
It is also important to note that epididymitis “if not treated, or in some other cases, the condition can become chronic. In chronic cases, there is usually no swelling, but simply pain…recurrence is also fairly common.”

So I think it is best to discuss this with your physician so your concerns may be clarified.
