Leaving poop in boxer in trash can & wash cloth's

My boyfriends 10 Year old brother would poop in his uncles boxers and a time their cousin was staying for a couple of weeks and he pooped his boxers then would throw them in the trash can. His mother was trying to figure out who was doing this until one day they found poop in the trash can at the aunt's house and figured that his little brother was the only one that could have done it. The mother asked him if he knew who was doing this and he said he didn't know. The mother said she would have the police investigate to see if he would confess but he didn't. After that this hasn't happened. But the other day, he stayed over at mine and my boyfriends house and he used a hand cloth that I have in the restroom for people to dry their hands, he used it to wipe his poop and left it there where you wash your hands. Is this a mental behavior or is it a sign of abuse? I am very concerned.

This discussion is related to 7 year old boy pooping his pants.

this can sometimes be a sign of a mental disorder such as an attachment disorder - I would bring him to a counselor - a child doing this for shock value is screaming for attention...

Now that you know who is doing it, you may wish to simply ask him to clean it up.  It is important that he know that you are not mad at him, or even act disgusted.  He does need to be responsible for this behavior though.

I cant bring myself to think that it's either of those options.  I worked in a childcare facility  until recently.  I witnessed boys this age group intentionally urinating on the floor, walls, and in the sink of the restroom, behind chairs in the gathering room, even found it on the bus after a field trip.  I would get so upset because it's disgusting and they(4 brothers that everyone knew were the culprits) would just sit there and act as if they didnt have a clue or care what you were talking about.  I wont even get started on the younger age group of boys that do this mess as well.

I think things like this are done for shock value.
